Yutaka Kobayashi: Japanese Internment

Andrea Morales and I interviewed and photographed the first person for our Japanese American Internment Camp project series.
We spoke with Yutaka Kobayashi, who lives in Wellesley, MA and is originally from San Francisco, CA. Yutaka was 18 years old when he and his family were sent into the Internment Camps. Ten months into incarceration, he was allowed to leave camp and attend college. He studied bio-chemistry, eventually obtaining a PhD in his field.
Yutaka now spends much of his time playing tennis. He is ranked #1 by the USTA in the 85+ age group.
We’re still working on footage and editing, we will have some work to show within the next month.
