Every year, the Cleveland area Japanese American community hosts a “community picnic.” It’s been going on since the 40s most likely, and my family has gone to it every year since then. It’s a fun get together with food, games and door prizes… mainly a family event.

There’s a lot of kid games, and even games for the older folks. But, this year was really the first time I saw my Grandmother’s age group line up and chase down candy that was thrown into the grass.
